Heartnuts

Have you ever seen a nut like this? Neither had we. In search of a suitable crop for our piece of land, we came across an agroforestry expert. He introduced us to the heartnut and we were so impressed that we immediately decided to start a nut plantation.

The heartnut is officially called juglans ailantifolia var. cordiformis and originates from Japan. It belongs to the walnut family (juglandaceae) and is also known as the Japanese walnut. Heartnuts are primarily cultivated and consumed in Japan, Canada and the United States.

Our untreated nuts are grown with respect for nature. We do not use artificial fertilisers and also do not use herbicides or pesticides.

Hazelnuts

To avoid relying entirely on the heartnut, we also decided to plant hazels. They are quite easy to grow and bear fruit quickly.

Here too, we chose different varieties for reasons of pollination and diversity. We have Corylus avellana and Corylus maxima. The taste differences are not significant; they are all tasty varieties with large nuts..

Furthermore...

Honey

The project Plan Bee made us take our first cautious steps into the fascinating world of beekeeping in 2025. And if you have bees you usually also have honey.

Apple juice

Pure juice from our own apple trees. Just like the nuts: untreated.

Sundries

Vintage nutcrackers, decorations with heart nuts, jewelry, squirrels: if it has anything to do with nuts, it is welcome in the shop.
